Symphonic and choral music

La Tribuna: Three act opera, on a libretto by Javier Ozores Marchesi, based on a novel by Emilia Pardo Bazán. Duration: 2h 30 min.
 

Suite Sinfónica de “La Tribuna”: Suite in five movements, on themes of the opera “La Tribuna”. Partially premiered by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under Josep Pons and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga under José María Moreno. Duration: 35 min. (possibility of performing separate movements)

El Lejano Campanario: Symphonic Lied on an excerpt of "A mi Madre" by Rosalía de Castro. For mezzosoprano and symphony orchestra. Premiered in 2011 by the Orquesta Gaos and Alba López, conducted by Fernando Briones. Duration: 18-20 min.

Noche de Navidad: Lyrics by the composer. For children’s choir and symphony orchestra. Commissioned by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, premiered on Dec. 29th, 2010 by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under Víctor Pablo Pérez. Duration: 10 min.

Ave Maria: For choir, children’s choir, and symphony orchestra. Commissioned by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, premiered on Oct. 7th, 2010 at La Coruña’s Santo Domingo church, by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under Víctor Pablo Pérez. Duration: 6 min.

Pezzo sinfonico: For symphony orchestra. Premiered by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia under Pablo Mielgo, at the Festival Mozart 2012, Teatro Rosalía. Duration: 18 min.

Schlaf’, mein Kind: Cradle song, lyrics by the composer. For soprano / mezzosoprano and symphony orchestra. Duration: 6 min.

​

Yurikagono Uta: On a traditional Japanese cradle song. For soprano / mezzosoprano and symphony orchestra. Duration: 5 min.

 

Chamber orchestra

 

Sol de Medianoche: 12 songs on the first chapter of the book Sol de Medianoche by Luz Pozo Garza. For female voice and string orchestra (possibility to reduce the orchestra to a quintet with double bass). Duration: 40 min.

Tres Cancións pra Rosalía: On three poems from "Concerto de Outono" by Luz Pozo Garza, for soprano and string orchestra. Premiered in 2012 by the Orquesta Gaos and Alba López under Fernando Briones. Duration: 20 min..

 

Bagatella nº1: Version for string orchestra, premiered by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia string ensemble,

under V. Przevalskyi.

Medrando entre Cancións - Creciendo entre Canciones: For woodwind quintet, strings and percussion. Instrumental Overture and arrangements of popular Spanish and Galician songs, for children’s concerts. Commissioned by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia in 2010.

​

Béla Bartók, Tempo di ciaccona and Fuga: Two movements of the Sonata for solo violin, arranged for string orchestra by Gabriel Bussi. The first movement was premiered in the USA by the “I Palpiti" Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles, under Dr. Eduard Schmieder.

​

Niccolò Paganini, Capriccio nº 24 and 9: String accompaniment of Paganini’s caprices for solo violin. Premiered by the “I Palpiti” Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles, with Sayako Kusaka, violin, and conducted by Dr. Eduard Schmieder. Nº 24 was radio broadcast. Possibility of preparing more arrangements as necessary.

Giovanni Bottesini, Gran Duo Concertante: For violin, double bass and string orchestra. String orchestra arrangement by Gabriel Bussi. Premiered at Festival Mozart La Coruña 2004, by the Orquesta de Cámara de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, with M. Spadano and D. Zecharies as soloists.

Franz Schubert, SerenadeArrangement of the famous Lied by Schubert for solo violin and string orchestra. Commissioned in 2012 by Lucica Trita for the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia Women's Orchestra.

​

Jewish Phantasy – on traditional themes: For string orchestra. Premiered in 2002 by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra under Dr. Eduard Schmieder.

 

Chamber music

​

Fanfare for a Special Man: For trombone octet. Dedicated to the memory of Petur Eiriksson (1966-2019). Premiered on October 9, 2023 at the Centro Ágora in La Coruña, by the Eiriksson Trombone Project, conducted by the composer himself.

​

Un Pintor en París – Poesías de Pablo Picasso en su década más oscura (A Painter in Paris – Poems by Pablo Picasso from his darkest decade) : For baritone, piano, and string quartet. Composed in memory of Pablo Picasso's 50th death anniversary. Premiered on June 4, 2023 by Lucas López (baritone), Haruna Takebe (piano), and the Schubert String Quartet, at the Museo de Bellas Artes de La Coruña, within the events of the Picasso Year 2023.

​

Sol de Medianoche for string quintet: 12 songs on the first chapter of the book Sol de Medianoche by Luz Pozo Garza. For female voice and string quintet with double bass (Original for string orchestra). Premiered on May 9, 2021 by Joana Thomé da Silva (mezzosoprano) and the Schubert String Quintet. Duration: 40 min.

 

Tres Cancións pra Rosalía: On three poems from "Concerto de Outono" by Luz Pozo Garza, originally for soprano and string orchestra., version for string quintet (with double bass). Premiered on July 24, 2017 by Patricia Rodríguez and the Quinteto Cimarrón. Duration: 20 min.

Bagatella nº 1, nº 2, nº 3: For string quartet. Premiered and recorded by the Artemis Ensemble. Duration: 5 – 7 min. each.

​

Bagatella nº 4: For string quintet (with two violas). Premiered by the Schubert String Quartet in April 2018.

​

Bagatella nº 5: For string trio (violin, viola, cello). Premiered by the Schubert Trio in July 2021.

​

Bagatella nº 6: For string quartet.

​

Intermezzo elegíaco y escena: For string quartet. With excerpts from the opera “La Tribuna”. Duration: 8-10 min.

Prelude and Fugue on a theme by Beethoven: For string quartet. Duration: 8-10 min.

Movement for piano quartet in C minor: Premiered by the Cuarteto del Pino in March 2015.

Quintetto di fiati (Woodwind quintet): For flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn. 5 movements. Premiered by the Zoar Ensemble in 2012, at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes, La Coruña. Duration: 30 min. (possibility to perform separate movements.)

​

Tema con variazioni, for clarinet in A and piano: Commissioned by Juan Ferrer, recorded in 2012/13 for a CD production. Duration: 15 min.

​

Theme and variations for two violins: On a theme by the composer. Duration: 7 min.

​

Sakura Sakura: Variations on a traditional Japanese song, for violin and piano. Commissioned and premiered in 2011 at a fundraising concert for Japan’s tsunami disaster. Duration: 7 min.

​

Sakura Sakura – version for bassoon and piano: Same work as previous, for bassoon and piano. Premiered in Japan in 2018 by Shuhei Kakuta (bassoon) and Yuki Kawasaki (piano).

​

Sakura Sakura – version for two pianos: Same work as previous, for two pianos. Premiered in Japan in 2011.

Sakura Sakura – version for flute and piano: Same work as previous, for flute and piano.

Akatombo: Traditional Japanese theme, for violin and piano. Commissioned and premiered in 2011 at a fundraising concert for Japan’s tsunami disaster. Duration: 3 min.
